Save Water, Save Money?

Save Water, Save Money? Whole House Water Filtration System

water filtration system los angeles

Don’t be surprised if your efforts to cut back on your water usage are rewarded with a higher water bill.  What?  Yep, that’s right.  The Associated Press reported that “millions of Californians expecting relief on their water bills for taking conservation measures instead are finding higher rates and drought surcharges.”

What’s happening is that as people use less water, the state utility companies ‘sell’ less water resulting in revenue losses which can put them in the red.  In order to stay in the black, utility companies have been raising their rates.  The problem lies in the fact that the fixed costs of the utility companies remain the same despite decreased water usage.

So, unfortunately saving water is most likely not going to save you money.  In some fashion, free market forces of supply and demand are going to dictate the cost of water in our state.  Regardless of where the price of water goes in California, we all have to do whatever we can to ensure that our most pressure resource is used wisely.  Filter your precious water.
