Reasons to Consider Water Fasting
There are just as many types of fasting as there are ways of doing it. Some are forced into it when they get stranded in places where they can’t get a meal, while others do it for its health benefits. Fasting can be simple or complex. When done for religious reasons, it means that you don’t consume anything, but others prefer to cut out a certain favorite indulgence or food group out of their diet.
Among the most well-established types of fasting are water fasts and juice fasts. With water fasting, you drink only water for a set number of days to slow down your metabolism. With juice fasting, you extract fruit and vegetable juices from fresh produce, and then drink different recipes for a certain number of days.
Water fasting is best done when you are not doing a lot of things that are physically demanding. Many people who have completed their water fasts claim that it helps the body detox with energy that would have, otherwise, been utilized for digestion. You also lose weight quickly, as your digestive system gets a much needed break. Some people also claim that water fasts promote clarity of mind, increased energy, peacefulness, and general healing.
